Overview Expand

Located in Queen Street, close to the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral, Bloomberg London is the company’s new European headquarters.

Appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to deliver an extensive scope of works, the Foster + Partners-designed development is comprised of two buildings connected by glazed bridges across a retail arcade that bisects the site.

Lindner Prater’s remit included green/bio-diverse roofing and the installation of riverstone cobble margins and natural paving slabs. In addition, hot melt waterproofing was also required for multiple levels of the project.

The intricacy of the project meant the work was often challenging. For example, Lindner Prater had to carry out waterproofing to the structures behind large-scale bronze blades across the building and the underside of the façade glazing. The different angles and densities of the blades meant Lindner Prater faced a difficult task when installing the waterproofing, insulation and min-k filter sheets. However, the specialist team carried out rigorous testing throughout the process and ensured the building was waterproof and thermally efficient.

The new headquarters was opened in October 2017, achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating against the BREEAM sustainability assessment method, with a 98.5% score – the highest design-stage score ever achieved by any major office development.
