Overview Expand

When BAA was granted permission to extend the terminal building to help aid the increase in passenger traffic at Stansted, the UK’s third busiest airport, Lindner Prater was appointed specialist envelope contractor to supply the total external envelope package for the £50 million project.

Our role in the roof construction involved installing pre crimped Plannja metal decking overlaid with a vapour control barrier, acoustic matting, insulation and 7,800 sqm of Sarnafil single ply roofing membrane, which formed the 22 diagrid roof structure.

These were supported on six support ‘trees’ – the roof structure designed to replicate the roof of the existing terminal building.

Our ability to preassemble the main roof structure close to site dramatically reduced health and safety issues and installation time.

To complete the building envelope, we installed 2,258 sqm of high performance solar glazing for the main external façade, 600 sqm of rooflight glazing, and 2,291 sqm of composite cladding for the low level areas of the building incorporating doors and aluminium louvres.
